Data protection is a hot topic. When the European Union recently changed the way Data Protection is treated, at Strong Abogados we helped people adapt to the new regulations. In Spain, the governing laws are called LOPD (Ley Orgánica de Protección de Datos).
We offer our services, which include filing documents to the government whenever your company collects personal data, determining whether specific practices comply with the EU's requirements, analysing possible threats to the data you have collected, and legal advice regarding data. Filing and controlling your data will be required by law. According to the LOPD, not doing so may result in fines from 900€ to 600.000€.
Contact us and we will send you our proposal for services.
When will this new regulation start being mandatory? The changes to the law will be enforced starting May 25th, 2018. Who is obligated to comply with this law?
The law applies to all companies and individuals who record personal data. This includes, for example, professionals such as lawyers or tax advisors, SLs, SAs, chambers of commerce, nonprofit organisations, government administrations, partnerships, bodies of professionals, cooperatives, charities, etc.Does this mean the government has access to my clients' personal information? They will not have access to the data. They will only have knowledge that the data exists and is not accessible by unwanted third parties without the client's consent.
